"Why are we all here?"
Uruha's question was directed at the room, and three pairs of eyes transfered their gazes to him.
"I'd assume that we're here because of Ruki's birthday," Kai said slowly, here being their practice room, "but I have yet to see him."
Aoi and Reita nodded, their silence a comfortable reassurance as usual. Suddenly, the door to the practice room opened and a giant cake... rolled in.
"Oh, geez." Aoi groaned and covered his eyes with his hand.
"Aoi..?" Uruha asked hesitantly, now clinging to his boyfriend.
Reita just stood there against the wall his his arms crossed and stared at the cake with bored amusement. Kai was the only one to actually approach the cake, though he did so carefully.
"Aoi..." Uruha repeated, hiding behind the older man slightly.
Suddenly, the top of the cake popped off with a spray of confetti, causing Kai to jump back. When the confetti cleared, out of the cake appeared... Ruki.
"I would love to know," Ruki began, looking pissed - with confetti and cake in his hair, "why I had to get my own birthday cake."
Four pairs of shocked eyes stared back at him, and Aoi suddenly snorted.
"I gotta... Sorry."
Aoi walked out of the practice room snickering, with Uruha clutching his arm and trailing behind him, glancing back at Ruki with wide eyes.
"Well?" Ruki demanded, ignoring the two guitarists.
Kai just stood there for a few moments, then also walked out, muttering, "I don't get paid enough..."
Watching him leave, Ruki looked back at Reita with a slightly hurt look on his face.
"I-"
"Happy birthday." Reita interupted before Ruki could say anything. He started walking forward, stopping right in front of the cake. "I wanted to say something this morning, but you left too early."
Ruki just dipped his head and looked at the ground, making Reita smile.
"Come on, baby." Reita said softly, picking Ruki up out of the cake. "Let's take you home."
